As clinicians, we have a literature rich with all manner of notions, but we’re an impoverished lot when it comes to discussions of cold cash and filthy lucre in the consulting room agora. With clinical vignettes, we’ll examine ways we and our patients both ignore and wrestle with these loaded issues.  We’ll put our money where our mouths are.

Douglas Bernon practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in Portsmouth, R.I. He teaches clinical seminars at Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis and classes in play therapy and adult psychodynamic psychotherapy in the residency program at Brown University Medical School.
